Aquila

Mesure

Length: 210cm
Width: 100cm
Height: 214cm

I present The Aquila, a work born out of a deep and personal need: to represent my husband, a fundamental figure in my life. This work is a tribute to his constant presence, his silent but powerful support, his ability to stand by my side in the most difficult moments.

Like many, I have gone through personal and professional challenges, and at all times it was his support that gave me strength. I chose to depict him in the form of an eagle: majestic, imposing, able to soar high above everything, but also ready to rest gently on my difficulties, to lighten them.

The Aquila rests on an armchair, a symbol of welcome, of presence, of stability. A choice meant to combine the strength and elegance of flight with the concreteness of comfort.

This is not just an artistic work: it is the culmination of more than thirty years of work, research and dedication in my personal expressive language, combining textile material and form. Over time, I have developed innovative methods to give fabric an unprecedented structure and strength, shaping it with the same intensity and precision that others reserve for more rigid materials.

The Aquila has a monumental presence, not only because of its more than two meters in height, but because of the amount of work and effort it encompasses: each feather was made and sewn by hand, one by one, with extreme care; the fabrics and colors were selected with great care, so that they could fully express the profound meaning the work carries.

For me, this creation represents the union of an intensely lived personal and professional life. It is a symbol of my journey, my evolution as an artist, and my dedication to an art that does not want to remain distant, but to be experienced, touched, shared.

Like each of my creations signed Marila Zanella, The Aquila is designed to create a direct link between artist, work and viewer. Because art, for me, is relationship. And this relationship takes concrete form in a work that holds years of love, work and beauty.
